The Hanging Fleurettes series grew out of a deep admiration for flowering trees, whose delicate blooms and graceful, hanging form have mesmerized me since moving to Portland over a decade ago.
This piece abstracts the orchid plant, pairing a heavily textured background that echoes the rough bark and stone the orchid clings to with its delicate blooms dangling from a long stem, gently stirring with the air. The contrast is the point, with a rugged surface behind and fragile beauty in the forefront.
The fleurettes are crafted from thinly pressed porcelain, fitted between a pair of brass finials into strands of crocheted wire and suspended from a wood header. They float and have room to slightly turn as if caught by a gentle breeze.
Materials: Porcelain, wire, brass, acrylic medium, alder
Dimensions: 24” wide x 40” long x 4” deep
Shipping not calculated in price
Due to its size and fragility, a separate packaging and shipping quote will be sent upon purchase
